quick post

so far this day has been crazy and it's not even lunch time!

1. yesterday I updated the software on my blackberry and it died. AT&T has officially deemed my phone un-fixable. GREAT. So I can either get a replacement phone for $40 that does nothing but make calls or I can upgrade to a new phone at the new contract price. Decisions decisions. I really want an iphone but I was trying to hold out until the summer when they come out with the new version... buttt if I get the iPhone now I can just buy the upgrade later, so it's not that big of a deal.

2. I was on facebook checking the news feed and one of my friends status said she was going to Britney tonight in oakland. Now I am a pretty big Britney fan, and I wanted to go to one of her concerts when she was in the bay area (San Jose and Sacramento) but the tickets were really expensive. So just out of curiosity I checked on Stubhub to see how much tickets were, and I found some for $70/each and they are in the upper level in the 9th row. Not too bad... SO I BOUGHT THEM! YAY! I'm going to BRITNEY! I'm so excited!!! Plus this venue isn't huge, so being on the upper level won't be as bad as it is at most places. (Lucky Joshy is going with me, muahaha)

So now I need to figure out my phone situation, because as of right now I am unreachable. And being unreachable while you are trying to get a job is not a good combination. Plus I feel so disconnected from the world!

sometimes I just can win....

Today I rode my bike to campus to visit my old co-workers from when I planned events for my college. In honor of Earth Day (it's really tomorrow) they were giving away energy efficient light bulbs, reusable grocery bags, and little plants! It was pretty neat!

In preparation, I decided I would paint my toe nails because they were a little chipped and needed some help. Two coats of Strawberry Electric and one clear coat later, I was ready to sport my flip flops with pride.
I then packed up my backpack with the basics: water bottle, keys, phone, and a snack and headed to the balcony to get my bike. After struggling to get the darn thing to turn around so I could drive in through the house to the front door, the back tire ran over my perfectly painted big toe!

I was so mad, but I knew I couldn't just leave it, I had to touch it up. So I quickly put my bike on the porch and then touched up the toe. Locked up the house, and took my bike down the stairs. I then go to get on my bike and my OTHER big toe hits the pedal and gets messed up too! Being the OCD type person that I am, I parked my bike, went back upstairs, unlocked the house, touched up my toe, locked the house back up, and FINALLY commenced on my journey.

As if this couldn't get any more ridiculous, I'm just cruisin' along, and come to the first intersection, so I stop and push the cross walk button and wait for my turn. When the red hand turned in to a little person I started crossing the street. Now ya know when you first start riding and you have to get that momentum going so you stand up and pedal? Well I did this, and somehow I scuffed the first big toe on my pedal! Knowing it would be stupid to turn around again, I stopped on the other side of the street and tried to push the nail polish around in order to cover up the spot that just got ripped off.

What makes me mad is that my polish had been on for a good 45 min or so, it should have been dry enough to withstand a little biking action, and as far as that "super hard coat" clear coat: LIES!!

in the end, Earth day at school was fun, I saw a lot of my friends and enjoyed the sun, now it's back to job searching!

Adventure Day

On Saturday, Josh and our good Friend Allie and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and go on an Adventure. Our original destination was supposed to be Muir Woods, to take a hike among the redwood trees, but when we got there, there was ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING. People were parking on the side of the 2 lane highway (there wasn't even really a side to it) for about 3 miles down the road from the park. Crazyness, so we opted to continue driving another 10 miles so we could go to Stinson Beach instead.

There was a huge Monster Truck in the parking lot, it was a bit over the top.

I had to covertly take a picture of the couple behind Josh for memories sake, they were FULL ON making out, along with other "activities" under their beach blanket, it was so inappropriate! What happened to the beach being a family atmosphere people!?

The road was super windy and right next to a cliff, needless to say Josh and Allie thought I was going to kill us all a few times.

Lastly, a road trip/adventure day would not be complete without a stop at 7-11 to get a slurpee!

Overall it was a beautiful day spent with great people! I love going on adventures with Allie and Josh, it's always so spontaneous and we always have an awesome time.

Dryer Dilemma

As some of you may remember, we have been having trouble with our dryer not drying for the last few weeks, and yesterday I had finally had enough. My load of whites had been through 3 times and was not even close to being dry, PLUS they were starting to smell funny.

So I told Josh that he needed to figure it out before I threw something. After some quick google research, Josh found out that there were only a handful of things that could be making the dryer not work: was it getting warm? YES. was the drum spinning? YES. is the ventilation tube unobstructed? hmmm.

Josh then pulled our dryer out from the wall in the storage closet, and hopped back in there to find that the otherwise lightweight tube was rather heavy.

Because a bird had made a nest in it!!
Which was preventing the moisture to leave the dryer through the tube!

The circle in the middle-right of the picture is where the end of the tube vents to the outside of the storage closet, where lovely birdies decide to crawl inside and make nests!

Once he dumped out all of the dirt, weeds, and leaves the dryer was working better than ever!
Thank you handyman Josh! Now our clothes are drying at warp speed!

Now it's time to catch up on all of the laundry!

Barbie Jeeps, Mustangs, and Escalades, Oh My!

When I was a little girl all I ever wanted was a Barbie Power Wheels Jeep. I was convinced that if having a status at age 5 was possible, this was the only way to attain it.

Unfortunately, my parents couldn't afford to give me a $400 set of kiddie wheels (understandably), therefore I was left to lust after the other kids I knew who had one. But in all reality, I only knew one kid, my cousin, who had the boy version of the Barbie Jeep, so I guess I wasn't the only kid who longed for something more than my trike and radio flyer wagon.

In the spirit of reminiscing, I thought I would see what kind of Barbie wheels are out there today at the power wheels site, and let me tell you: they have outdone the old days of Barbie Jeeps and Corvettes. What was once my childhood dream is now child's play compared to what they have now....

Feast your Eyes on the Barbie Mustang and Barbie Escalade....

... both cars boast chrome rims and the Escalade even has a "hybrid" decal on the back of it. Is this so that young environmentally friendly tots can show off their love for Mother Nature?? Seriously people?!

Does anyone else find this funny yet outrageous at the same time? People actually buy these for their kids??

It's no wonder kids are obese, they probably just cruise around their neighborhood in their Barbie Escalade and don't even know how to ride a bike! I mean, how can a bike even compete when the Power Wheels has a REAL FM radio!?! No joke.

I'm off to the park to find the elusive bike riding, baseball playing, swing set swinging child that I'm afraid is now extinct. Wish me luck.

Finished Pottery!

As many of you know, a few weeks ago my friend Sarah and I went to paint pottery! All of our things were finally ready to be picked up, so I thought I would share the finished products...

My two jewelry dishes, perfect for putting my rings in when I do the dishes! There was a weird thing in the blue one that I couldn't paint over, so now it's just a huge blob, oh well.

And last but not least, my candy dish! It turned out really cute - this picture doesn't do it justice! Filled with Fun Dip of course, after Jen at The McCrady's had me craving some a few weeks ago during my candy post!

I highly recommend painting pottery, its a great thing to do with friends or go alone just for some peace and quiet :)

road to recovery... and real food

After a short blogging hiatus, I am back! I can finally get out of bed for more than the short trip to the couch or bathroom, and my dizzy/hot flash spells are becoming less frequent, not to mention, no more night sweats! Finally!!

... now if I can just get my appetite back, I'm sick of eating toast and rice.
