Happy Birthday To My Baby...

6 years ago on Mother's Day, my parents dawned upon me my love, my everything... my Jetta.

Yes you read that right, on Mother's Day my Mom spent the day at a car dealership getting me a new car!! But of course there was some story behind it! I already had a Blue Jetta, it was super cute, but unfortunately, an Old Man, with no fingers (I call him Mr. Nubs) rear ended the poor blue Jetta while we were on our way to the dentist.

Needless to say, the first Jetta had some pretty legit damage and my Mom did NOT want her baby driving a car that had been close to totaled. So the blue Jetta got all fixed back up, but had frame damage, so it never would really been 100% again.

I had been talking to my Mom about it and I don't even know how, but on Saturday night we decided that on Sunday (Mother's Day) we would go looking at a new Jetta. (Of course my best friend and I had already gone to the dealership to scope out the one I wanted, we even tested out the stereo system, nerdy I know, give me a break we were 17!)

Mother's Day morning arrives, and I'm already excited, then I get up and go to the living room and look out the front window and see a WINTER WONDERLAND in May. Josh and his good friend Mike thought it would be a good idea to T.P. my house! So not only did my mom buy me a car on Mother's Day, she helped cleaned up the T.P. that the boy who liked me made sure to put EVERYWHERE. Of Course, this started a T.P. war, and the 'girls team' def. won, complete with T.P.ing Josh's bedroom. His mom was nice enough to let us in the house to do this, resulting in stuffing confetti in every article of clothing in Josh's closet. It was glorious.

But back to the main two points.

1. I have the BEST Mom ever. Happy Mother's Day! She is the most caring, hard working, loving person I have ever met, and she is an amazing cook! Plus she made sure that I got my DREAM car after Mr. Nubs assassinated the Blue Jetta.

2. Happy Birthday Jetta! It's been a great 6 years and you are still going as strong as ever! I look forward to another few years, hopefully not 6, because let's get real, your Momma is going to need to upgrade eventually!

Call it what you want....

but most likely it's denial... or some sort of Freudian slip.

Yesterday I was looking at my calendar, hanging so proudly on the wall with all of my special dates (which I have color coded with my colorful sharpies) and I look at my birthday which is coming up at the end of the month, and I think, "wait a second... that doesn't look right..." So then I realize how stupid I am for GETTING MY OWN AGE WRONG on my OWN calendar. Waaaaay to go Katie.

I guess I never really felt 22, so it would be even weirder for me to feel 23... if that makes sense. Regardless, I had to break the perfection of my calendar and edit the entry on my birthday, such a let down.

But I can guarantee you I won't forget how old I am/going to be anymore! haha.

2 Truths and a Lie Answers and Explanations

Alright, so yesterday was 2 truths and a lie guessing day, so today I will reveal the answers and give some much needed explanations haha.

Round One: (disclaimer: my parents really do love me... I think... haha just kidding!)

1. When I was three my Mom broke my leg
TRUTH- I was sitting in the kid seat in the shopping cart and we were leaving the grocery store. I told my mom I wanted to go fast, so she hopped on the cart (the little underneath rack) and pushed like on a scooter or something, the cart hit a pothole in the parking lot - flipped - and I broke my leg. My parents were having friends over for dinner that night and when my mom got home she had me in a cast up to my hip and I couldn't bend, she was so upset she just started crying when she walked in the house saying "I broke my baby..."
2. When I was five I fell off the roof of my play house
LIE
3. When I was two my Dad opened the freezer and a frozen thing of OJ mix fell on my toe, causing the nail to grow weird ever since.
TRUTH - now my toenail grows all weird and rippled, not gross looking or anything, and I can totally cover it up with nail polish.

Round Two:

1. I was a Business Minor and Anthropology Minor
TRUTH - I wanted business somewhere on my resume, but without a ton of math/econ classes, and who doesn't love a little bit of anthro?
2. I was a Communications Major
TRUTH - I hate math, and I love to talk
3. I was a Psychology Major
LIE

Round Three:

1. Josh pursued me for 5 months before I would go out with him
TRUTH - poor Joshy, I really wanted nothing to do with him, but he just wouldn't go away! So whether I liked it or not I soon found out what a cute dork he really was and he grew on me, and the rest is history!
2. Josh and I met at a Basketball Game at Halftime when he spilled a soda on me
LIE
3. Josh and I have the same last name, but we aren't married
TRUTH - His last name is Carey, and my last name is Kerri

So there are the results, thanks for guessing!

And Katie, I thought about disqualifying you too, because you were the only one I KNEW would definitely get them all right haha.

OBVIOUSLY number 3 is the lie! My Brother is a High School Senior, who Skateboards and enjoys Photography - Not Cocaine haha

Maybe I'm a tad OCD/Type A Personality

A week or so ago I was going through my underwear drawer and realized that I somehow only end up wearing the same 10 or so pairs of underwear, because they are at the top of the drawer, and they don't get rotated around. So then I started digging deeper and realized, oh man, I have some CUTE underwear hiding in the depths of this drawer... and with that I also realized that the ones that had been hibernating were starting to smell like my maple wood dresser.

So that's when I get the bright idea to take EVERY single pair of panties I have and wash them all to freshen them all up, and to get my old favorites rotated back in the mix. (Do you think I'm crazy yet?)

Pile o Panties.

Josh and I bet on how many were in the pile, he said 35 so I said 36, halfway through the pile we had to readjust our guesses, Josh said 65 so I said 66. All in all there were 87! So that means at least 60 pairs were being neglected, how sad. I'm happy I decided to right the wrong, and stop the panty injustice that was happening in my underwear drawer!

Perhaps I need a Psychiatric Evaluation? haha

Weekend Recap!

Friday night my former college was hosting an event with guest speaker Katelynn from the Real World Brooklyn. Since I am still so close with all of the student Event Planners, I got to go early to hang out with them and Katelynn!

Beofre meeting her I was really curious as to what she would be like in 'real life' because I felt like I already had somewhat of an idea from watching her on the show... but let me tell you, she is SO different from how they portrayed her on the show. She was hilarious, and was constantly cracking the funniest jokes and she def. loved all of the attention she was getting.

Here is a clip from during her Q&A in response to the question "Do your new parts look normal/real?" And she responds with a story of how the boys in the house couldn't tell hers from the other girls during a photo line up of their 'you know whats'.

Katelynn was a great speaker, and had an amazing story to tell. For those of you who may not know, Katelynn was born male, and underwent a $20K sex change surgery in Thailand, without the help of anyone in her family. She is a truly strong woman, and her story was so touching. I'm really glad I got to hear her speak, as well as meet her.

On Saturday Josh and I ran a bunch of errands, the main task: get Mother's Day gifts for our Moms. I had no idea what to get Josh's Mom, but after wandering the aisles of Michael's we found the perfect thing, a plain wooden bird feeder. I know, I know, sounds lame... but I completely transformed this bad boy into a work of art. I forgot to take a picture of it pre-paint/decorations, but just imagine the whole thing a light wooden color.

Super cute, eh? I also got her a bag of bird seed so she is ready to start feeding the birds as soon as she opens it haha.

And of course while at Michael's, we found all sorts of other fun things, like this little kid Elephant hat! I made Josh try it on and let me take his picture against his will haha.

Then we headed over to Border's so I could find my Mom a cookbook, and thanks to Coupon Sherpa (the iPhone app) I had a 40% off coupon, and a coupon for a free drink at Seattle's Best Cafe inside Border's, so I got a yummy hot chocolate for free!

While there, Josh and I came across this wonderful treasure: a GIANT Cat book. It was in the sale section for $9 and we knew we had to get it for his sister. The thing weighed about 15 lbs or so and Josh was embarrassed to carry it around, so we hid it behind some other Giant books until right before we checked out. Oh, and everyone in line was staring at Josh and his Giant book, one guy even said "Nice Book" and laughed at Josh, it was really awkward.

Sunday Josh went to his sister's hockey game in San Jose, and I stayed home to clean the house and run some errands. Now it's Monday again, and it's time to Job Search, yuck!

Yummy French Dip Sandwiches and Au Jus!

I don't claim to be a master chef, but there are a few yummy recipes that Josh and I have finally learned how to master. One being: French Dip Sandwiches! We bought a 3 lb. roast and lathered it all up with the spices and garlic and roasted it in the oven for a few hours, and the result was delicious!

The great part about making a 3 lb roast is that we have the perfect amount of leftover meat to make BBQ beef sandwiches the next night, yumm!

I'm so happy it's Friday, my brain hurts from all of the job searching. I feel like I'm a detective scouring every corner of the Earth for jobs. This weekend Josh and I are planning on taking it easy after having a few busy weekends the last few weeks, so that should be nice!
