Oh Day off, how you zip by so fast....

Before I start, Sara from That's Sassy!! I didn't get the invite when you went private so send that over please!!! my email is katieandjoshsblog(at)gmail(dot)com!!

Yesterday was my day off and boy oh boy, it DID NOT feel like it. Unlike most other people who get 2 days off in a row (1 to do errands and such, the other to relax), I get my two days off a week separated from each other. For Example, this week I had Monday and Thursday off. So if I do errands on Monday, I don't have much time to relax that day because I spent it running errands or doing laundry or going to the gym, and then the next day I am right back to work. Then when it comes to my second day off, without fail we will be out of milk or something so yet again, ANOTHER day of errands - leaving me with no day to just relax.

Now don't get me wrong, I am VERY thankful for my job, but honestly, I am so ready to have a normal schedule where I have the weekends off and I don't work past 5pm and can eat dinner with Josh every night.

Just think about it. Whenever you want to go shopping the mall is pretty much open, 7 days a week, first thing in the morning till bedtime. Which means some unlucky soul has to be there to open and close the store. So if you happen to be one of those people who shops late in the evening, remember to be polite to the sales associate because they would rather be at home enjoying a warm meal with their family instead of ringing up your transaction.

It's really weird because I didn't intend to rant in this post, but it just sorta came out. I guess Holiday Mall Hours and Annoying Holiday Shoppers are already getting to me... ughhh... 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks...

I really don't know how you do it! I couldn't stand retail! And you're right, the mall is always open so working in those stores sucks! In-N-Out was the same way and sometimes that really sucked too. Especially working Friday and Saturday nights but for some reason I found it more bearable. Maybe cause I actually liked my job? =]

Even 2 days in a row pass by quickly so I can only imagine when you have one. The holiday season must be a bit of a nightmare for you guys in retail, huh. I get easily annoyed by other shoppers in the malls at this time of year and I don't have to interact with them! Thanks for doing what you do! :)

I used to hate working retail...not like working at a hotel is any better but I have a pretty steady schedule. Good luck girly!

Someday you won't have to do it anymore and it will make you all the more thankful. I'm sick of all the madness and I don't even work or go to the mall.

I had the same feeling when I worked retail! And shoppers this time of year can be soooo rude! I hope the next couple of weeks goes by super fast and that your next day off lasts for a really loooonnnggg time! :)

The one year that I worked in retail it put me in the worst mood over the holidays. I was so bummed about missing out on holiday things. Since then I vowed to never go to stores on big holidays or around them for the sake of employees!

I hope your shoppers show you appreciation. Lots and lots of it. I definitely appreciate you. I get very happy every time I see you've posted.

I hear you. Don't work retail but don't work regular hours/days/weeks whatever. As much as I like it I want to leave it all behind and have something steady. ;) Hope though you had an okay weekend. :D

I know what you mean. Sometimes it seems as if there is never a day off. Between my hectic work schedule and teaching skating, things can get crazy, especially when chores around the house and errands fall behind. This past Sunday, I said heck with everything and relaxed. It was such a lazy day, but I needed it!

I always try to be nice to anyone working retail during the holidays. I can imagine how stressful it can be for them too and like you said, there are probably plenty of places that they would rather be. I totally understand :)
