Annnnnd the response...

Greeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaatttt.

Hi Katie,

Thank you so much for letting me know about Douchebag coming to the house. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and you are right! You are dealing with me and this is between Douchebag and I. The truth of the matter is that we are filing for a divorce and we have been separated since last October. He seems to have been in denial and now thinks he can step in to all I have been managing.

What I would like to do is meet with you and the room mates or just you however you would like and let you know what could happen. I dont know if I will keep the unit or if I will have to include it into a bankruptcy. But nevertheless, if I do a BK, you will not be legally obligated to pay the rent. I am meeting with an attorney today, so please just give me a call and we can meet this weekend.

I will talk to Douchebag. Sorry! By the way, he can not evict you.

-Beezy

After talking to her on the phone it looks as though the townhouse we live in is going to be foreclosed on, and we will be getting a move out notice sometime soon. EXCELLENT!

So here is our question: why did it take her d-bag ex coming over for her to give us the heads up?? Stupid Stupid Stupid!

I do not want to pack up and move again, just thinking about it makes me tired and sore already!

I need to buy a house...

Our stupid A$$ land lord...

Our landlord is divorced. The townhouse we live in is a property her and her ex own. Our lease states we pay her $X amount each month, simple.

Well tonight her ex husband came knocking on the door, told us that we now need to write him a check for half of the rent because his name is on the lease (which it is not) and because she isn't giving him any of the rent money. He also said that if we do not comply he will evict us.

How can you evict us when you aren't on our lease? And I'm sorry funny man, but I'm not paying you any money unless I have a written agreement.

Soooo I wrote our stupid landlady this lovely email...

Hi Beezy,

I just wanted to let you know that this evening Your Douchebag Ex came by and spoke to Josh about our rent payments. He told Josh that from here on out we need to be writing two checks for rent, one to you, and one to him.

He said that if he is not given a check we will be evicted because he is on the lease. He was very nice about the situation and suggested that Josh, Stephanie, and I all meet with him when we can.

Here is the issue, his name is not on our lease, therefore we do not feel comfortable paying him, nor do we believe that we are legally required to do so.

It would be a major inconvenience to have to split the rent evenly into two checks when all three of us pay a different amount, and we are already writing one single check to you.

If he is to be paid half of the rent and we are going to be required to write him a check as well, we would need a new lease with this agreement in writing, otherwise we will continue to pay you for rent with one check every month.

Please let me know how we should proceed from here on out, and if you can mediate. I don't really feel that it should be our responsibility to deal with him - or the financial situation between the two of you.

Thanks,

Katie

Sooo aggravated!! Do any of you know much about this kind of thing? We aren't obligated to pay him too just because he owns the house with her, right??

UGH!!

The Landlord from you know where...

Monday night our shower got to the point of no return. It has had a slow running water leak since we moved in in August - which I have been asking our landlord to fix - and she keeps brushing me off. But Monday night, it got to the point where it wasn't a small leak but it was constantly running instead. LOVELY.

So we had to TRY to sleep all night with it running super loud, I'm telling you it was like Chinese Water Torture!! Needless to say I woke up in a really bad mood on Tuesday and knew I had to let this beezy know I meant business. So I called my dad for some pointers and then I crafted this bad boy and clicked "send!"

"Hi Deborah,

I am writing to follow up on the email I sent on September 28th in regards to the Master Bathroom Shower. At this point in time it is unusable, and the water is no longer a slow leak, but it is instead running constantly. I have attached pictures of the water leaking, please note that the shower knobs are in the OFF position and it is still running water non-stop. Not only is this wasting a large amount of water, but because it is the hot water that is running we are paying to heat water that we are not using.

This has gotten to the point where it needs immediate attention in order to save water, money, and spare any more possible damage to your structure. As you can see in the other photos that I have attached, the steam from the hot water leaking overnight has caused water buildup throughout the entire bathroom. The water buildup on the ceiling, and shutters/window in the picture is not from showering, it is solely from the leaking tub.

As we go in to our first large storm of the season it is highly inconvenient to have to leave the bathroom window open to offset the amount of humidity and attempt to air it out, in addition to all three of us having to now share one shower.

I have no problem arranging a plumber to come and fix this ASAP and I am willing to front the money and have it deducted from next months rent (November).

I work until 7 today, and if I don't get an email response from you by 12 noon on how we should proceed I will give you a call on your cell phone. Josh will be home around 12:30 and would be available to let a plumber in to fix the problem.

Thanks,

Katie"

After her giving me the run around for so long, you better believe she responded to that email right away and left me a voice mail. Stupid Beezy it is about freaking time!! Rage Rage Rage!

Some of you may remember the condition of the tub when we moved in and how freaking disgusting it was, well guess what, after re-caulking it and cleaning it all up in August it is starting to get bad again from the constant leaking. I'm so fed up! I can't wait until Josh and I buy our own house, I'm sick of renting and paying someone else my hard earned money to live in a place that they don't even care about (which stinks because this place has so much potential! And as it is I have done wonders with it - of course :] )

Here is a picture of the non-stop running water we were dealing with...
we had water build up on EVERYTHING! We had to throw away the roll of toilet paper because it was fully saturated, and our towels were all damp - so nasty!
Luckily she got the issue resolved so last night we were able to sleep without the Chinese Water Torture, thank god! But of course there is still the burner that won't light, the plantation shutters that don't close in sync, the lack of her providing a lawn mower as promised... etc, etc, the list goes on and on.

Do any of you have terrible landlords? Or are Sarah Ann and I the only ones?

Annnnnnnnnnd I'm Back

I apologize for my absence, the last few days have been rather stressful. Let me quickly summarize the weekend of moving:

On the day of the walk through the townhouse still had not been cleaned. On the day of our move in the townhouse had only been briefly spot cleaned, as you can see from the pictures below, whoever cleaned it had a different definition of what the term "clean" means. And our idiot landlord felt that the way we were given the house was completely acceptable.

The Master Bathroom upon our arrival: I asked the landlord "umm what about the black mold in the shower?" to which she responded, "Oh that doesn't come off" .... MY ASS LADY!
It was obvious the landlord wasn't going to do anything about the disgusting state of the bathroom, so my Dad came to our rescue - thank god! He ripped out all of the old caulking and replaced it, while I sanitized the shower at least 5 times. Leaving it in much better condition, even though it still is an eyesore: (p.s. don't you love the ghetto knobs??)
Oh, and let's not forget the ceiling fan in the Master Bedroom that had obviously not been cleaned since 1983.
Basically, the house was a living nightmare for someone of my OCD cleaning status. We spent the better half of what should have been our move in day just cleaning the place. Honestly, I'm not even exaggerating, it was filthy and disgusting. I just have no idea how someone could leave something like that, nor can I believe the landlord was okay giving it to us in that condition. I felt so bad for my parents, they ended up staying until 9:30 that night, and then drove an hour and a half home after a full day of cleaning and moving (not to mention our old apartment was upstairs and this place has stairs too!). THANK YOU SO MUCH MOM AND DAD!!

After a few days, the house is slowly coming together. EVERYTHING has been sanitized and Clorox wiped so I'm starting to feel at home. I've gone to Wal-Mart about 8 million times to pick up random stuff we've needed - and all of the stupid little expenses are starting to add up, and it doesn't help we are paying to renovate this stupid place that we don't even own! But it's a double edged sword, if we don't make it livable, we know the landlord will leave it how it is, and I don't want to live in a dirty place for the next year.

Don't get me wrong, this townhouse has SO much potential, and honestly it has come around full circle in the last few days, it just baffles me how someone could move out and not even clean - it's just SO GROSS! Oh and to clarify, when we first saw the townhouse, it had the previous tenants furniture and stuff in it, so we couldn't really tell the extent of their messiness because it was all hidden, so don't think we are idiots who knowingly chose a dirty place haha.

I started the new job on Monday, let me tell you - I still hate retail haha. But I am SO grateful to have a job. I can't wait to buy a new purse, I haven't gotten a new Coach bag in quite sometime, and I think I deserve one :) Also bloggy friends, I think a Coach Give Away will be in your future, probably around the holidays, but none the less, keep your eyes out :)

OH and I almost forgot, the landlord said we can only have small dogs - so it looks like we will be waiting a while to get a doggy :( Josh was really sad, but he thinks once the landlord sees how clean we are and what we have done with the place that she will change her mind. Who knows, I will keep you posted.

I hope everyone else had a fantastic mold free weekend!!
