What Do You Sleep in?

Recent events* have had me thinking more and more about what attire people wear to bed. I personally can't sleep in anything but a pair of underwear and a cami. I get so claustrophobic feeling when I roll over and things wrap around me, therefore no loose clothing can be worn to bed. It doesn't matter if its -20 out, if I'm camping, or if I'm sleeping over at someone else's house. I just can't do it, I can't wear any more than the basics.

Which brings me to the recent events* that have taken place in our house. A few weeks ago I asked Josh how he manages to sleep in boxers... "don't they get all tangled up?" ... "don't they get all crooked and wrap around you in your sleep?" To which he replied that he hadn't even really thought about it so it never bothered him. Well I guess I shouldn't have asked, because a few nights later Josh decided he couldn't take it anymore, and the boxers had to go. (if you catch my drift)

So I wonder, what do you sleep in? Do you get the same wrapped up panic feeling that I do? Or am I just crazy, and have now rubbed off on Josh too?

I'd be lying....

... if I said I wasn't in love with this bag from Anthropologie. I saw it in the flesh last week, and let me tell you, it was gorgeous, pink, and HUGE= three qualities I love in a bag.
Now if I can only justify buying it..... perhaps as a birthday gift to myself? Josh and I are going to SF for my birthday next week, and I think a stop in at Anthropologie just might be in order. :)

Workshops, Proms, and Heat Waves Oh My!

The last few days have been pretty hectic, and involved me driving all over the state of California and back, but it was so worth it!

On Thursday I drove to Napa to have lunch with Lindsey! It was so much fun, and good to see her and catch up. It's always great when you can meet someone through work and end up being really good friends, not only did she keep me sane while at my last job, she continues to give me the best advice and always be a great ear when I need it.

After lunch I continued my journey to Roseville, where I stopped to induldge in a little Vera Bradley shopping, don't worry, I only bought a birthday gift for my friend! Nothing more I swear! The mall there was just gorgeous, it was outdoors with fancy music and landscaping and they even had a cute little train to take the kids around in! (not one of those tacky carnival trains though haha)

After my pitstop in Roseville I kept driving to El Dorado Hills to my Aunts house where I spent the night. It was fun getting to hang out with my little cousin Megan, and made my life much easier on Friday, when I had to be in Sacramento for the Sports Sales Workshop that I had signed up for at 7:30 am! (about a 25 min drive vs. 2 hours from where I live)

The workshop was held at the Arco Arena, home of the Sacramento Kings NBA team and the Sacramento Monarchs WNBA team.

I heard about the workshop from one of my old professors, and I'm really glad I went. It was pretty neat because out of the 35 students/recent grads who were there, there were 5 Sonoma State Students/Grads, so we had our own little group, which made the experience a little less scary.

It was a 12 hour day, with three sales training workshops, a panel discussion, a behind the scenes tour of the arena, networking, and interviews with the Sales Directors who were there from the Kings, Monarchs, A's, Diamondbacks, Trailblazers, and Rivercats. I learned a LOT about inside sales/ticket sales! But at the end of the day... I just don't think inside sales is what I want to do. After the workshop I drove home to my parents house in Livermore to eat a good meal and go to bed!

Saturday was my brother Clay's Senior Ball! This was so exciting because he is a skateboarder who never dresses up, so I flock to any occasion where he is going to be combing his hair and looking suave! His date was his good friend Lyndsey, and she was so cute!

All of them with their Party Bus Limo which ended up getting a flat on the way back from Treasure Island in SF, so they had to switch Limos on the middle of a bridge, literally, they were in the second to middle lane = so safe.

After taking prom pictures I went over to Josh's house and had dinner with his parents, and Aunt and Uncle who were in town visiting. Around 9:30 Josh and I left Livermore and headed back to RP. It was a little crazy/tiring to drive back so late, but there is something about being in your own bed that over powers your better judgement haha.

Sunday we slept in and enjoyed being back at home, especially after I had slept in a different bed every night since Thursday. It was blazing hot (100*) so we opted to run our errands early so we didn't have to be out in the heat all day. Byt he time we got home and unloaded all of the groceries we were both super tired and it was too hot to do much of anything, so we decided to lay down for a quick nap... two hours later we woke up (oops! haha), made some Chinese Chicken Salad for dinner and watched the Series Finale of Prison Break.

All in all I drove over 400 miles in abut 72 hours, the Jetta is a champ!

Guy Fieri Comes to SSU!

Last night Guy Fieri came and spoke at SSU, it was really interesting! He is local to the area (he lives in Santa Rosa about 7 miles away from SSU). Normally a 'tv personality' of his fame wouldn't make an appearance without being paid a couple grand minimum, but Guy is all about community and having your community's back, so he came to SSU for free!

While he was here he told some stories about how it all started, why he chose this area to begin his two original restaurants - Tex Wasabi and Johnny Garlic's, and of course how he balances fame and family.

He told a story about how he was recently at a fundraiser in Kentucky trying to raise money for a children's hospital, and he was at 9K and was trying to get to 10K but all of the items had been auctioned off, and he was even auctioning off random things he just found like a mini fridge from the hotel. And finally he yelled to the crowd "We need to get to 10K, what's it gonna take??" and a guy yelled from the back "your sunglasses!"

Well, apparently he had just received the sunglasses as a gift from the manufacturer, they were a one of a kind pair, created with his custom logo and copy of his tattoo as the design. He was in love with the glasses and had only had them about a week. But after standing on stage hyping everyone up about raising money, he knew he had no choice. So he walked to the back of the room and gave the guy his sunglasses, and brought the fundraiser up to 10K.

He said that the #1 thing people say to him is "Wow, your not that fat in real life"

He also talked about how the airport staff at SFO always asks him if he brought food every time he checks in, so he has started bringing huge platters of pasta every time he flys.

Here is a quick video clip of Guy reenacting his casting tape for The Next Food Network Star, which he didn't even want to apply for. His family and friends staged an intervention of sorts and forced him to mail in the tape, they even walked him to the PakMail store to make sure he sent it out.

Sadly I wasn't able to get a picture with him, he had to leave right after his talk to go to his son's school's open house. But it was great to get to hear him speak, and hear some behind the scenes stories!

My Tye Dye Master Pieces

As you may have read, yesterday I tye dyed! And now that the dye has set and everything has been washed, I thought I would show you my works of art!

Hot Pink Spiral Scarf :) So fun for Spring/Summer!

Hot Pink/Turquoise Shirt, I'm thinking this will make an appearance on the 4th of July :)

And last but not least, my Associated Students Productions Shirt, excellent for running/the gym.

If you haven't tye dyed before, I highly recommend it! It is so fun, and a great way to revamp older things, or just make new things fun! Last year I tye dyed my mom an Apron, and myself a skirt, the possibilities are endless! If you are interested but aren't sure where to start, this is a great website that sells the dyes and how to books!

whoops!

Today on campus they were having a Tye Dye Super Nooner! (Nooner's are events that happen at noon in the quad) I must toot my own horn and admit that I was the one who first started the super nooners, complete with activities, live music, jumpy houses, and free pizza. What could be better?

Anyways, I rode my bike to campus today to help out, because putting on tye dye for a whole campus is a big job! In my day (spoken in granny voice) we would do the traditional method of dipping the shirts into large buckets of dye, which I think works well, especially for a mass amount of people. But the new rascals like to do it the new and imporved way of using squeeze bottles, which results in richer color and more precision with the dye. BUT along with it comes a huge mess, and having to refil the bottles every 10 minutes when they run out. So I think it is safe to say that my way is better, but it's not my event anymore, so I just sit back and laugh, mean I know.

I was wearing gloves because I had to mix all of the dyes and everything, and I figured it would be a better idea than going without. Well my friends, these little bone fingers weren't exactly protected because the gloves were so big. So between my lack of aim, other peoples lack of aim, and the poor quality of gloves, my hands looked like I didn't wear any gloves at all. Which normally wouldn't be an issue, but about half way through tye dying I realized "Oh S&$t, I have a sales training conference on Friday" and I now look like a rainbow smurf.

Please note this is after washing my hands and scrubbing them at least 5 times. Greeeaaaat.

Any ideas on how to get my hands clean?

Note to Self: THINK BEFORE YOU TYE DYE.

Now it's time for a nap. Being outside made my allergies insane so I took a benedryl which has sedated both my allergies as well as myself. Night Night :)
