Wanted: Cute Rain Boots

The last few days I have been on the hunt for a cute pair of rain boots. I feel like I have searched high and low and EVERYWHERE in between. Even Target let me down which was a huge surprise- I mean, they had some, but the ones they had were only okay, and they didn't even have my size so it wouldn't have helped much anyways.

What I really want are a pair of these, but sadly they only come in kid sizes :(

Where can I find some cute rain boots?!! Help a sister out here!!
(the only downside is I need them asap because we are going to Lake Tahoe this weekend! So ordering online is sorta out of the question... unless of course they are a MUST have!!)

The Landlord from you know where...

Monday night our shower got to the point of no return. It has had a slow running water leak since we moved in in August - which I have been asking our landlord to fix - and she keeps brushing me off. But Monday night, it got to the point where it wasn't a small leak but it was constantly running instead. LOVELY.

So we had to TRY to sleep all night with it running super loud, I'm telling you it was like Chinese Water Torture!! Needless to say I woke up in a really bad mood on Tuesday and knew I had to let this beezy know I meant business. So I called my dad for some pointers and then I crafted this bad boy and clicked "send!"

"Hi Deborah,

I am writing to follow up on the email I sent on September 28th in regards to the Master Bathroom Shower. At this point in time it is unusable, and the water is no longer a slow leak, but it is instead running constantly. I have attached pictures of the water leaking, please note that the shower knobs are in the OFF position and it is still running water non-stop. Not only is this wasting a large amount of water, but because it is the hot water that is running we are paying to heat water that we are not using.

This has gotten to the point where it needs immediate attention in order to save water, money, and spare any more possible damage to your structure. As you can see in the other photos that I have attached, the steam from the hot water leaking overnight has caused water buildup throughout the entire bathroom. The water buildup on the ceiling, and shutters/window in the picture is not from showering, it is solely from the leaking tub.

As we go in to our first large storm of the season it is highly inconvenient to have to leave the bathroom window open to offset the amount of humidity and attempt to air it out, in addition to all three of us having to now share one shower.

I have no problem arranging a plumber to come and fix this ASAP and I am willing to front the money and have it deducted from next months rent (November).

I work until 7 today, and if I don't get an email response from you by 12 noon on how we should proceed I will give you a call on your cell phone. Josh will be home around 12:30 and would be available to let a plumber in to fix the problem.

Thanks,

Katie"

After her giving me the run around for so long, you better believe she responded to that email right away and left me a voice mail. Stupid Beezy it is about freaking time!! Rage Rage Rage!

Some of you may remember the condition of the tub when we moved in and how freaking disgusting it was, well guess what, after re-caulking it and cleaning it all up in August it is starting to get bad again from the constant leaking. I'm so fed up! I can't wait until Josh and I buy our own house, I'm sick of renting and paying someone else my hard earned money to live in a place that they don't even care about (which stinks because this place has so much potential! And as it is I have done wonders with it - of course :] )

Here is a picture of the non-stop running water we were dealing with...
we had water build up on EVERYTHING! We had to throw away the roll of toilet paper because it was fully saturated, and our towels were all damp - so nasty!
Luckily she got the issue resolved so last night we were able to sleep without the Chinese Water Torture, thank god! But of course there is still the burner that won't light, the plantation shutters that don't close in sync, the lack of her providing a lawn mower as promised... etc, etc, the list goes on and on.

Do any of you have terrible landlords? Or are Sarah Ann and I the only ones?

Holiday Weekend = Work Weekend

I'm going on my 5th out of 8 work days in a row, and I feel like I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel (going to Tahoe this weekend!).

The holiday weekend was crazy busy at work. Customers everywhere, we were understaffed, and all the while having to worry about our secret shopper visit. I'm so scared the shopper is going to come while I am the manager on duty - and further more I am scared we won't get a 100% and I will have some explaining to do to my boss. It is so much pressure and so stressful!!

While being trapped at work all weekend I had the pleasure of meeting one of my readers in real life!!! It was so cool! Sadly I didn't catch her name, as it was so crowded in the store at the time, and I was trying to make sure everyone got greeted while I was talking to her. By the way she has fabulous taste and picked out a super cute bag :) But she needs to get a blog!!!

After that exciting moment, I finished out the day at work, closing with my coworker Isaiah. Then I came home, had some dinner with Joshy, and watched a marathon of COPS with Josh, Stephanie, and Anthony. It is so funny to watch COPS because there are so many idiots out there. Another one of my favorite shows right now is "Inside American Jail" which showcases even more idiots, and it is a lot more current day unlike most COPS episodes that are from the 80's.

In other news, Joshy is feeling better finally. Today he went to school and actually wore real clothes for the first time in a week. It is crazy to think this time last week I was sitting in the ER with him and his sister -No fun!

I hope everyone else had a good holiday weekend! I'm off to find a cute pair of rain boots seeing as how we are supposed to have a torrential downpour tomorrow!

P.S. look what I ordered :)
I broke down and got the patent Maggie in Graphite! You might remember how I was contemplating getting it a while ago. Well, it went clearance, so it was super cheap (in relative terms haha) and I just couldn't pass it up!! Sooooo cute!!! I went for the dark greyish color because after seeing the black one in person I just wasn't sold, but the grey is so pretty! I ordered it last Wednesday, so it should be here any day now!!!

oh Joshy...

So the other night Josh was watching the newest episode of Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. I wasn't really paying attention because I was blogging (of course), but I was listening to it in the background, when Josh makes an observation regarding Kari, the lady on the show.

He says randomly "she looks fat now"

So when I finish what I am writing I look up at the TV and it is obvious to me that under her babydoll shirt is a BABYbump! So I had to set Josh straight and inform him that no, she is not fat, she is pregnant! haha

And a cute Pregnant Lady at that!

Boys say the dumbest things sometimes, I swear. Thanks for the laugh Joshy!

Ding Dong (literally, some people are idiots)

Last night while I was at the gym, Josh had a funny little encounter with some door to door sales men...
When he heard the doorbell ring he was thinking it might be his new MacBook Pro that we ordered for his birthday, so he mustered up the energy to get his sicky butt off of the couch and to the front door. When he opened it, he was greeted by two door to door salesmen, and the conversation went something like this:

Salesman: Hi there!
Josh: hi
Salesman: Is your Mom or Dad home?
Josh: uhh no they're not home right now
Salesman: Do you know what time they will be home?
Josh: umm prolly around 7
Salesman: Ok, thanks! Have a good day!

Granted we both look really young, but Josh is sporting a FREAKING BEARD right now because he hasn't shaved since before he got sick. Not to mention he was also wearing a t-shirt from high school that says "Senior Class of 2004". I mean does he REALLY look like a child?? And for the record we do not live with our parents, and Josh just went along with what the guy said so they would leave him alone haha

poor Joshy! Hopefully your MacBook comes soon!!

A trip to San Francisco and the Emergency Room...

Holy Moly.

I have had the craziest last few days, I apologize for my absence and I feel SO behind in the bloggy world. But alas, here is my story of the last few days - the good, the BAD, and the ugly.

On Thursday I had the day off, and Josh had school so I decided to have a girls day with myself and headed into San Fran. I was so proud of myself for making it all the way to downtown SF without using my gps!! haha On my way there I saw this license plate and thought it was cute, but then it turned creepy because an old man was driving the car...
After I got home from the city I went to the gym and then got ready for Josh's hockey game. Our friends Stephanie and Anthony joined us for the game and we had a great time watching Josh's team win!

Friday I worked.

Saturday I worked until 5, then I came home and went to the gym, and then Joshy and I made tortellini and garlic bread for dinner -yum! Then after dinner we made our first fire of the fall/winter season! I love having a fire, it makes the house seem so much more homey.
On Sunday we had every intention of going home to visit my parents and pick out some of the pumpkins that my dad had grown in his garden... and maybe visit this cute little puppy as well...
...but instead all "you know what" broke lose in the Kerri-Carey household.

I woke up Sunday morning to Josh sleeping in a ball with a wash cloth on his head. I immediately woke him up to ask why it was there, to which he explained that he was having hot/cold spells and it was keeping him cool. After taking his temp and finding out he had a low grade fever I got him in some sweats and made sure he spent the day on the couch resting.
Throughout the day he maintained his fever and even after taking Tylenol and drinking water he was still feeling icky. So I made some home made chicken noodle soup - which he hardly ate any of on Sunday, but it has been a blessing to have around yesterday and today.
After we had soup for dinner on Sunday we watched some Extreme Make Over: Home Edition. And I decided to test out my new lotion and hand gloves, because ever since the weather has changed my hands have been even more dry than usual.
They actually worked out great, and hand my hands feeling baby soft in about 15 minutes - so worth it!
After TV and lotion gloves we went up to bed, to what would be the worst night we've had in a very long time.

At 1:30 in the morning Josh still hadn't fallen asleep and was super hot, so I was going to give him some Tylenol and crackers. So I gave him the Tylenol, he ate 2 crackers, had a bit of water, and then he wanted to go pee before he tried to sleep again. So he got up and went into the bathroom and went pee. Then I heard and bunch of banging and then silence. I peeked in the bathroom and didn't seem him in the mirror, so I went in and he was out cold on the floor (the banging I heard was him falling and hitting the toilet and the wall on his way down).

When he starts to come to I tried to get him to put his head between his knees because he is dizzy but he wouldn't do it. He just wants to lay down. So he lays down and within seconds he is up holding onto the toilet throwing up. At this point I'm like what he eff do I do, so I call my mom who walks us through steps we should take. We get Josh all cleaned up and back to bed, and we stay up till 3AM in the off chance he hit his head and may have a concussion. But of course, even after it is okay to go to sleep neither of us sleep all night.

At 6:30 in the morning I can see he is only getting worse, his fever is higher, he is shaking and panicky looking. I asked him if he needed to use the bathroom, which he said he didn't want to because he was scared he would fall again, so finally I slowly coax him out of bed to use the bathroom - and as SOON as he is done peeing he starts throwing up again. After wards he takes a shower, I call his mom, who calls his sister who lives in the same town and she heads over. I get Josh showered and back in bed, and by the time Amber got to our house I was dressed and was in the process of getting Josh dressed.

We then head to the ER, where Josh passes out again in triage, and then they put him in a wheelchair to bring him to a bed in the ER. Before they can get him out of the chair and in the bed the poor guy says he thinks he is going to throw up (side note: they have him wearing a mask the whole time in case he had the flu) so the nurses are just like "hold on sweetie, hold on" and he is like no I can't and starts throwing up in the mask because they didn't take it off of him. So finally they take it off of the poor kid and he throws up everywhere. Then they get him stripped down and into bed, and hooked up to fluids.

I know it's mean that I took a picture, but I had to send our Mom's a picture while we were there so they knew he was okay (in relative terms of course).
Two litres of fluids, some nausea meds, fever meds, and a bunch of tests later they determine he has a viral infection and severe dehydration. After getting some rest in the ER he was released around lunch time. Then we brought him home and got him in some clean jammies and he went to sleep on the couch. I had to get ready for work, so Amber picked up the prescription they gave him for more nausea pills and then she came over to stay with him while I was at work.

He slept pretty much all of yesterday, and drank a LOT more fluids yesterday (thankfully!). Last night was a lot better, but still somewhat restless for me. I was so exhausted, but still really worried about him, so for the first time I can say I was RELIEVED to hear him snoring last night haha.

Today I am working a split shift 8-12 then 5-9, shitty I know, so before I left for work this morning I made sure he took his dizzy pills and went to the bathroom while I was there. Then I called him around 10:30 to make sure he was okay, and he had just woken up and was getting ready to go downstairs.

Then when I got home around 12:30 I heated up some of the home made soup and made him a grilled cheese for lunch. I'm so thankful he is eating it, because it is the best thing for him, and it won't upset his stomach.

His temperature is hovering between 98-99, so I'm feeling better about that, but I am still watching him really close.

So there you have it, a crazy past couple of days, but I am SO happy Joshy is okay and home safe.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Save The Drama For Yo' Mama!

I wish this girl could come to work and slap the drama queen I work with upside the head. I'm sure every workplace has it's own diva, and as of lately, our diva is pissing me off.

You know what I'm talking about:
-The one who thinks they are entitled to something because they have been there longer than you - even if their skills aren't that great.
-The one who makes sure you know when you mess up.
-The one who CONSTANTLY has something wrong in their life and wants you to feel sorry for them, whether it be money, relationships, sickness, ect.
-The one who wears far too much makeup, but thinks its okay because she was a makeup artist before (or so she says).
-The manipulator.
-The shit talker.
-The Moody One.
-The perpetual liar.
-The one who makes the workplace seem like freshman year of high school all over again.

Well in the store I work with, one girl happens to have ALL of these traits, and her latest target happens to be me. Little does she know I am ready to bring it.

So save the drama fo' yo' Mama, cause you don't even know what kind of craziness I am ready to throw down. I mean really, all we do for a living is sell handbags, can you just check your baggage at the door??

-Katie

oh and p.s. there is a reason they hired me from outside rather than promoted you from within for the management position, soooooo get over yourself because obviously you aren't that amazing after all nor do you have any leadership skills whatsoever.
