Lately at work we have been having some issues with a little mouse being in our store, and even on the sales floor scaring customers! But this week, it went to the level of jungle when I found a SQUISHED baby lizard in the stock room!!!

It was squashed so paper thin and all nasty! I have no idea how it got in our store and all the way to the stockroom, let alone flattened! Grosses me out big time!

This weekend is my weekend off and it is my brother's birthday, so it's time to celebrate! Have a great weekend and Happy Friday!

Gym Freak of The Week

For the longest time I have been trying to figure out the identity of this old man at the gym. Almost every time I walk in to the gym he is walking on the treadmill and I always think "man! he looks familiar!" then one day it hit me like a ton of bricks....

FATHER O'Neil From WEDDING CRASHERS was treading it up right before my eyes!!!!

I swear I was so convinced that it was him that I went home and did some research on the actor (Henry Gibson) and figured he must randomly live in my town or something, but alas, I found out that he died in 2009.

Oh well, I guess there is just a Father O'Neil stunt double who goes to my gym! haha

There is a woman in the US with two uteruses (spelling?) and she is pregnant in BOTH of them! Could you even imagine?? I can hardly fathom being pregnant in one, but having two, and having them be due a week apart! No thanks!

A weekend of Goodbyes!

This weekend was a happy/sad one! It was one of my favorite coworkers and good friend Amber's last weekend at work! She is switching colleges and sadly is leaving us! But we are so happy for her! Plus it was a great excuse to celebrate all weekend long!

End of a fun night!

On Saturday we were all DEAD at work. Our whole staff was out of it and so sleepy after being out until 2 the night before. So I apologize if you received poor service because we were all tired hahaha

Sunday was Amber's last day at work :( The two of us have been joking about doing the Hurricane Simulator for along time, and because it was her last day we knew we had to do it! So on our lunch we headed straight for the crazy contraption!

Then after a long day of customers and eating the TON of junk food that we all brought in, it was time for Amber to clock out for the last time! Amber was happy, but Hazel... not so much!

After work Amber and I went to dinner at Mi Pueblo and sat and talked for a long time. It was great to have some girl time, but def bittersweet :(

Amber also gave me my late b-day gift yesterday... and Hazel was kind enough to wrap it up for me....

But when I finally got the box open I found this haha

It was an absolutely GREAT weekend! I had so much fun going out dancing with the girls and doing crazy things. I'm sad that Amber is leaving, but I know we will stay in touch - because no one else shares my love for shopping and Borat quite like her :)

Last night we made Chicken Stir Fry and Fried Rice! I randomly picked up these seasoning packets the other day from the store, along with all of the fresh veggie ingredients and it turned out DEEEELISH!! :)

Gym Freak Of the Week!!

It has been forever since I have done a GFoTW!!! Again, I think I am becoming immune to their freakish ways, but yesterday I realized that I need to snap out of it! These people are freaks!!

This realization came when I saw this for about the millionth time:

I'd say that this old man is at the pool probably 3 out of every 5 times I go. He does not exercise. He comes solely to soak up the rays that shine into the pool house from the skylights above. The greatest part you ask? He lays there for about 45 minutes, and naturally the sun rays slowly shift - and he moves with them!!!! So I'll start my work out with him in the farthest lane from me and by the time I am done he has his arms and legs hanging over the side of the pool into my lane!!

This old man comes complete with a huge belly, bright red swim trunks, and a white sweatband. I'm tempted to let him know that he can sunbathe at a public pool for less money than his gym membership and that he will get a constant flow of rays.... but I don't think he would listen.

As with pretty much all retail establishments, each month my work gets a new CD, that we play OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER some more for the entire month.

Usually the CD is about 3-4 hours long, so you hear every song twice a day and about a billion times a month. Because of this, there are two stages that we go through with the songs on the CD, the first is obsession and the second is sickness.

I'm currently obsessed with Enrique's song Heartbeat! I just Love it!

With that said, I decided to look up the music video, and I was totally shocked at what I saw. I mean, lots of music videos are racy these days, but this one!! Whoa man!!

Please pay close attention at 00:45, 03:30, and 03:37 ... those three moments totally made my mouth drop!

HOLY COW!!! RIGHT?!?!?!

In college I was a Comms major, and I spent my fair share of classes studying film and understanding symbols, and let me tell you - that pole on his bed, is DEF a phallic symbol... without question! Man o man Enrique, way to make a comeback!!

Weekend Recap! :)

This weekend had it's ups and downs, and by downs I mean some big ones, but today we will focus on the ups!

On Saturday I was supposed to meet up with my good friend Katie and her sister Becca who was in town from VA, but plans changed and I still needed to take care of some things in the city -so off Josh and I went!

First Stop: The Westfield on Market St!

It was a beautiful day in the city! :)

They had a smart car exhibit inside! I just had to sit in one!

I love riding the escalators in this mall, the first few floors have curved escalators!! Josh on the other hand... not so much!

While we were there my main order of business was to stop in at Vera Bradley! I picked up a few birthday gifts and then got this cutesy for myself! It is the "Knot Just a Clutch" in the new Very Berry Paisley print - love it! :)

Then we decided to walk to Chinatown on a mission for the Fortune Cookie Factory!

Thanks to my iPhone I was able to map out how to find the small alley where the place was!

It is a little hole in the wall, but the cookies are so freaking good!

We got a bag of the flat ones and the folded ones with fortunes :)

Then we headed back to Union Square to the parking garage, and saw the cable car!

When we got back to town we went out to dinner in downtown Santa Rosa, and there was a Lucy on display!

Such a great weekend despite the few hiccups, but I just keep telling myself everything is meant to be!

While browsing through Tuesday Morning (sadly the only store worthwhile in our outlet mall) I found this gem! This one of a kind beaut brings a WHOLE new meaning to the term "beach theme"!! bahaha

I mean really? Who would want those those nasty sea horses holding up their table?? ANND to make matters worse it was outrageously priced at $189.00!!! What!??! The worst part - a few days later it was gone - so someone actually BOUGHT IT!!!!

stupid work shelves + me = trip to ER

At our work we have rolling storage shelves.

This picture is just to give you an idea, because the ones we have are much more GHETTO. They are able to moved by a nice crank nor are all of the tracks and such hidden. So we have to push and pull them by hand, and stop them with our bodies or use this HUGE metal brake that sticks out a few inches around the bottom.

Well yesterday morning I was walking in our stockroom, between the managers desk and the storage shelves. A co-worker was sitting at the desk so I had a smaller clearance to get through but this has never been an issue before so I'm just walking FULL speed when I whack my ankle SUPER hard on the metal brake that is sticking out from the rack. It was one of those hits that makes you light headed and super hot! So I sat down, collected myself and I was fine....

...until lunch time, then it started swelling and by the time I got off of work I couldn't put any weight on it! So I got home, showered, then rested on the couch for a bit with it elevated. The pain started to go away but I still didn't have full movement of my ankle, and after sending my Mom a picture she insisted that I go to the ER.

As you can see, it was so swollen you couldn't even tell if I had that little ankle bone or not!

So we headed to the ER. Josh was much happier on this visit than his last... haha

I on the other hand was not too happy :(

they stuck us in the non-priority room because I wasn't dying, but my foot felt like it was going to fall off! haha

Josh got to sit next to all of the supplies... and we might have left with an extra ace bandage or two...

The doctor poked my foot in two spots and when I said it hurt he said we needed x-rays - lovely.

Just waitin after the x-rays. On the bright side I had a nice nurse named Gloria.

The x-rays came back negative so I just have REALLY bad bruising and swelling. It was a waste of time, but I'm glad we went so at least I know nothing is wrong and that I am just going to gimp around for a day or two!

In the end they wrapped it up in an ace bandage and sent me on my way. I slept with some ice packs on it and was able to sleep pretty well. We will see how work goes today - we have a big floorset so elevating my foot isn't going to be so easy...

Wowsers. So before my camping trip last weekend I was in a frantic search for a new swimming suit - I looked EVERYWHERE. And during one of my stops I found myself int he dressing room at Old Navy. While changing I happened to look up to notice this:

A lovely piece of insulation dangling by a thread above my head. I understand that they are going for the "industrial" look with the open unfinished ceilings in their stores, buuuuuttt I'm pretty sure they should probably make sure things aren't about to fall on their customers!! I mean really, how would you NOT notice that?!?!?!

Something must be wrong with me...

As many of you know by now, I am a PINK lover. All things pink. Bathroom, Bedroom, Bicycle... you name it, I've got it -IN PINK!

But lately I haven't been able to get my mind off of this amazing duvet set from Pottery Barn... and *gasp* it isn't pink!!!!

I worked for Pottery Barn Kids throughout college and took advantage of the great discount, but after 4 years of rotating out my 3 pink toned duvet sets I'm starting to feel a room makeover coming on. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pink floral PB duvets, but I think it just might be time for me to move on to something a little more adult.

But who knows, this may be a temporary fever that might pass... but something tells me I will be snoozing in these beach inspired linens sooner than later :)

Weekend of Camping and Boating!

I'm Back!!! I've been out of the bloggy world for almost a week now and I was starting to have with-drawls! haha

Last week I had Thurs-Sunday off, so Josh and I were able to join my family and our friends for my parents annual lake trip that they host for their company! It is by far my favorite trip of the summer!

So on Thursday Josh and I headed home to Livermore and picked up my brother from my parents house and then embarked on our journey! When we arrived at the check in gates we saw a hilarious Motor Home Fail - note the sign.
Once we squeezed by the stupid motorhome we headed toward our group camp and along the way we found a sweet whale!

Then we hung out and waited for my parents to come back in from boating. Josh forgot a book to read so I loaned him The Time Traveler's Wife haha

Over the course of the weekend we spent a lot of time out on the water :)

And then Josh crashed and took a long nap!

It was an AWESOME weekend and I am so thankful that I was able to get the time off of work to join my family and friends. We had a blast!

ANNND I managed to stay sunburn free until the last day when I switched from No-Ad Sunscreen to Coppertone- so a word to the wise - if you are boating avoid Coppertone! It washes off!!!

Now it is back to work, but at least I have some sun to show off finally :)

Finally!

A few months ago I won a great giveaway from Mrs. B over at From Our Place to Yours! It was super neat because I was able to design and create my own card from Digital Room! They had a lot of different options and pre-made templates, but I opted to go with a simple and practical Thank You Card that I created myself!

On the front I used the same heart flowers that are in my header (thanks to my brother) in a light pink!

On the back I used the same flowers but reversed the colors and added "Made With Love By Katie" next to them :)

They turned out super adorable! I am so excited to have them because I always send out Thank You cards, and now I am all stocked up!

I've only been in a taxi once before.

I don't know what it is about them, but they've always seemed a little sketchy to me. Maybe it is TV and the movies, but whatever it is - I'm kinda freaked out by them. They just seem like a first class ticket to being chopped up in pieces and put in a river somewhere.

So just a nice little message to all taxi drivers, having THIS as your co-pilot is not a good way to gain my business and/or rid me of my fear of you and your death chariot.

Fun Weekend! :)

What a nice weekend!

On Friday after work Josh and I saw Toy Story 3 with my friends Lauren, Hazel, and Hazel's Man. It was a lot of fun and the movie was super cute and funny. I've never been a huge Toy Story fan but I really liked this one!

This week my really good friend Steph moved out :( Her and her boyfriend Anthony got their first apartment together, I'm super happy for her, but it was fun living together! So now Joshy and I have the house to ourselves which is also nice :)

On Saturday I worked and then headed to the gym. Joshy and I watched some things on our DVR and had tortellini for dinner!

Then on Sunday I had the day off! Yay!! So Josh and I ran a bunch of errands and restocked our fridge which was dangerously low. We also stopped by Ann Taylor LOFT which was having 40% off of Sale items, so I got this super cute dress!!

It has really cute little flowers and a bow along the neckline! I just love it!

We then hit up Sports Authority so I could get a new pair of goggles, because bleaching my old pair didn't seem to work long term and they have been leaking. Then we went to Big 5 and I finally got a new suit - my old one is falling apart and is the definition of a drag suit. It was only $19 and it is from a line by Dolphin called "Uglies" haha I figure for $19, it could have been a lot worse - I actually think it is pretty cute.
After our errands I went and swam some laps at the gym and then decided to attempt Pioneer Woman's Chicken Spaghetti after hearing Hannah's success with it!

Mid-Week Weekend Recap!

This week I had a Mid-Week Weekend! I had Tuesday and Wednesday off, so Josh and I headed home to celebrate Father's Day since we couldn't make it home on Sunday. So my family and Josh all went to the Alameda County Fair!

After dinner and gifts I picked Josh up from his parent's house and we headed home.

It was great having two days off together, even if it was a Mid-Week Weekend, it was still great!! The fair food was so delish, and I'm proud to say that I had enough of it in one day to last me until next year! haha :)

Oh the things you'll do...

Yesterday I FINALLY went to the doctor to get some sinus/allergy relief!! I have been so miserable and taking OTC meds hasn't been cutting it for me.

So among a prescription drug and nasal spray, the doctor also gave me this little box:

For those of you who have never seen one of these, let me introduce you to a nasal rinse. Which you fill up with water, hold tight to your nostril and then shoot the salt water up your nose.

It looks much like this.

Let me assure you there is nothing normal about this process. It felt like I did a somersault underwater and had a bunch of water going up my nose in the wrong ways, but the worst part was watching it come out of the other nostril and out of my mouth! Gross!

But alas, it worked very well and my sinuses were all clear! (for a little while at least)

Weekend Recap!

Over the weekend I had Saturday off, and my allergies have been KILLING me, so Josh and I headed over to the Bay Street mall which is right on the water! [where my allergies and my nose got a nice break! :)]

We had lunch at the Buckhorn Grill which was delish!

We walked through the outdoor mall!

We went in Ann Taylor LOFT and they were having a 40% off of Sale Items Sale, so I got this cute little skirt for $19 with tax! :)

We also saw Kung Fu Dance Performers

And no trip to the Bay Street Mall would be complete without a stroll through the ever amazing IKEA!!!

Then we headed home, I got a nice workout in at the gym, we had Pizza for dinner and caught up on the DVR! :)

Sunday I had to work, so I wasn't able to go home for Father's Day, but we are going to celebrate later this week, so I'm excited for that! And as a side note: for those of you in "the know" my special "friend" from work still hasn't come in to visit me!

... I mean what a trooper! Not only did he go buy tampons for the female in his life, but he bought a freaking CASE of them!!!

-I was in our bathroom and looked out the window and saw our neighbor walk over to our driveway look at something and then walk away... so I asked Josh to check it out and he was like "oh it looks like a can or something" and I was like "ummm Josh I don't think Luther would inspect a can" and then Josh admitted he didn't tell me the truth because he knew it would freak me out...

...BECAUSE IT WAS A DEAD SNAKE!!!!

-He promptly took care of it by scooping it up with his hockey stick and putting it in the trash

-Then we went to his two hockey games and I got to hang out with his parents in the stands

And that is about it... nothing else new here :)

Weekend Recap!

Another weekend off? I know it is a Christmas Miracle! But sadly, because I had this weekend off that means I have to wait a whole month to enjoy another weekend off - sucky!

On Friday Josh picked me up from work and we headed home! That night I had dinner with my family and then hung out with my good friend Nicole!

On Saturday we headed to Vacaville to celebrate my two cousins High School Graduations! The weather was beautiful and we hung out by the pool all afternoon and told funny stories :)

Then after their party we headed home and went out to dinner at Anita's for some Mexican food. Josh got a super burrito that was rather super haha

He ALMOST finished it, but had to stop towards then end

On Sunday we hung out at my parents house

Josh helped my dad with a project or two while I gave instructions

Then Josh, my Mom, and I went to buy a new mattress for the camper my dad just bought and we found this sweet garden cart by the dumpster so we took it and gave it to my dad haha - and yes, my mom is stealing things while handicapped

Josh and I went for a bike ride and then hung out in the turret with my dad for a bit before having dinner and heading back home.

It was a very low key and nice weekend, and the weather was finally warm! I hope everyone else had a great weekend too! :)

My 24th Birthday Weekend Recap!

I had a great birthday and a great weekend! Thanks for all of the birthday wishes :)

On Thursday after my fun "work" birthday I headed home to my parents house for the weekend. We hung out and had dinner and then headed to bed, a simple nice relaxing night.

On Friday, which was my real birthday I slept in late, hung out in my jammies, and even took a nap! It was glorious! Then at 5pm we had Bocce Ball reservations at Campo di Bocce! We've been there before and had a great time, and you can play for free on your birthday, so we headed on over!

We played in teams - Old People vs. Young People and my parents killed us, their score was 2X ours haha... we even tried cheating but nothing worked.

After Bocce we went out to dinner and then got some frozen yogurt at TCBY! Then we headed home so I could open my gifts!

My parents gave me a certificate to have the Jetta serviced! Thank goodness because she hit 75K miles awhile ago and is in dire need of an oil change and 75K mile service! Yay!
My brother got me the board game Balderdash!
And Josh totally surprised me and got me a new camera!!!! I have been wanting one forever! I'm so excited because my old Canon was 6 years old and only had 5 mega pixels hahaha... can you say ghetto??! The new one has 14 mega pixels and panoramic picture options! Such an improvement! :) Thanks Joshy!!
After presents we headed to bed because we had big plans for Saturday!

We got up bright and early and headed to San Francisco. We have already seen all of the major attractions in SF so we thought it might be fun to give the Duck Tours a try.

Then after the Duck Tour we headed over to Pier 39 for some lunch!

We ate at WipeOut, which was yummy and had HUGE portions!

After walking Pier 39 for a bit we headed over to The Walt Disney Family Museum which is also in SF

They only allowed pictures in this one room, which displayed furniture from Walt's Disneyland Apartment

The museum was interesting and really informative, but because the weather was abnormally AMAZING for the city it made being in a museum kinda over rated so I wasn't as impressed as I would have been on a boring rainy day haha, but we got to learn some neat facts about Walt and his family so not all was lost.

After SF we headed home. Josh was kind enough to drive while my dad, mom, and I all took naps in the car haha. When my brother Clay got home from work he had his new 'girl friend' come over so we could all meet her. She was really nice and stayed for dinner - which my mom had made French Dip YUMM!!!

Then after dinner we played a game of Balderdash up in the turret of my parents house. We had such a great time and almost peed our pants a few times from laughing so hard!

Then it was funfetti cake time, and then bed!

On Sunday Josh came over to my parent's house and we went for a bike ride in the vineyards!

It was 95 degrees out - so beautiful!

Then Josh and I watched/sorta helped my dad renovate his camper, I got a sunburn, and I gave the dogs a bath.

Then we filled up their doggy pool for them to cool off in, Bo was really happy :)

After playing with the dogs a bit we headed home, unpacked, ran a few errands and then called it a night because I had to work on Monday.

All in all it was a WONDERFUL weekend!! I had such a great time seeing my family and relaxing away from work! I hope everyone else had a great Memorial Day Weekend too!

Yay! Today is my birthday!!!!

I'm the big 2 4 now! yikes!

I've already had quite a few fun things happen for my birthday! On Tuesday Stephanie made me an AWESOME funfetti cake with pink funfetti frosting which I had NEVER seen before!!!

It was deeelish! Thanks Steph :)

She also spoiled me with a bunch of fun baking goods! She obviously knows me too well!!

Then yesterday was my "work" birthday, which was the last day I was at work before my real birthday. The girls at work were great and brought me flowers and cake and even took me out to lunch and showered me with gifts! :)

One wonderful co-worker who was off yesterday even surprised me and had flowers delivered to work!! I was so surprised! They were beautiful and smelled wonderful!!

Our Stock Room Manager is this wonderful Mexican lady named Lala, I love her. We always talk in Spanish because she is determined to have me bilingual! Anyways, she is just so precious and I love her - did I already mention that? Well I do.

She went to this great Mexican Bakery and had a birthday cake made for me! And the poor thing didn't know how to spell Katie! So sweet though! :)

Lala also brought me these beautiful flowers, which I put in a vase as soon as I got home to my parent's house last night, aren't they pretty?!

I felt like I was driving a florist delivery car on my way from work to my parent's house because I had so many pretty flowers in my car! It was great!

On Saturday I had the Day off so Josh and I headed in to SF to do a little shopping! I haven't been shopping in forever and I wanted to get some new spring/summer clothes, plus my birthday is coming up this week but it will be raining, so we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather!

After a brief spending spree, we headed home, but on our way out of the city some little butt wipes threw a firecracker at my car!!! I wanted to kill them, they are lucky it all wiped off!

On Sunday we had our Monthly Work Activity at our house, we had a pasta feed/game night. It was so much fun and we all laughed our butts off!

Don't Smoke in My Front Yard!

We live close to a high school in a very cute town home development. I like it a lot, it is really safe and cute! But as of lately we have been having an issue with teenage boys coming in our Circle and smoking pot. I assume they think because they are tucked back into our town home circle that they are safe from being caught, but sorry buckaroos, pot smells pretty strong and this nose is not a fan of the stench!

So yesterday I was getting ready to go to the gym and I could smell the smell of skunk, GROSS! I looked out of our bedroom window and of course- there they were, the 3 delinquents smoking pot out side of our house.

So I did what any good citizen would do - called the cops! haha

The police of course didn't show up in time so the delinquents were finished smoking and started to walk out of our circle towards the park behind our house. So I called the dispatcher back and let her know.

I was Sad. I was disappointed. I saw the potential for a great picture blog coming - but it never did!

So I went on my way to the gym, did my thing and when I was driving home I noticed a cop car driving the opposite direction. I took a quick glance and I saw the kid in the white sweatshirt in the back seat! Then three cars later was another cop car, with the kid in the black and orange sitting in the back seat. This time I got a good look at him, he looked scared shitless!!!

That's right punks! Don't smoke weed, and do NOT smoke weed in front of my house! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Your poor parents probably have no idea what kind of mischief you are getting in to - but now they will!

I know it was mean of me to tattle, but if I was their parent and I had no clue that my child was going around smoking pot with a band of hooligans I would HOPE that someone would be responsible enough to turn them in so I could put a stop to the nonsense. Although I would like to think that I will be involved enough in my child's life to prevent something like this - but you never know.

So moral of the story: don't smoke pot in front of my house because I hate the smell, I am a rule follower, and I WILL call the cops on you. I hope you had fun explaining this one to your parents you little a-holes!!!

Post Secret Event - Holy Moly

Saturday night Josh and I attended the much anticipated (on my part) Post Secret Event on campus! Let me just say that I could write a book on the event, there was such a broad range of emotions, stories, and people - it was a lot to take in and such a great experience! Here are some pictures from the event! :)

I honestly did not think I would get emotional during the event, but at times it was really sad. Towards the end he opened the mic up for people in the audience (around 1,000 people) to come up to share a secret. About 15 people shared, and it was so hard to hear some of their secrets. Ranging from thoughts on suicide, loosing a loved one, to saving themselves in times of despair - along with one or two cute and happy secrets. (and some guy read the secret I found in the book at the bookstore!! He ended up buying the book and shared the secret!) Watching these people share their most personal thoughts while crying and in front of a huge audience was really moving. But even more so, it made me fear for our country and how many unstable people there are amongst us.

One of Frank Warren's main goals with Post Secret is suicide prevention and awareness. All it takes is one person asking someone who is suicidal "how are you doing?" and genuinely listening and caring to show them that someone cares. Often times we are too wrapped up in ourselves or are unsure how to deal with someone who is having suicidal thoughts, but there are plenty of resources, and just being there for the person can often save their life.

Again, if you haven't checked out the Post Secret website or the books, I really suggest that you do. And if you are lucky enough to be near one of his book tour stops I recommend going, it was a really amazing and eye opening event!

Today's iPhone Foto Friday is a little different. I'm going to start with some background... as some of you know in college I worked as an event planner on campus. There were two events that I really wanted to put on before I graduated but they didn't work out, the first: a Q&A Session with one of The Girl's Next Door, and the second: a lecture with Frank Warren of Post Secre t.

Well my friends, I am so proud and happy to say that one of my favorite co-workers has continued on with my dream, and is bringing Frank Warren to SSU! So exciting! Congrats Angelina!

In preparation for the event I headed over to Border's yesterday to pick up a copy of his latest book to have him sign! :)

Post Secret: Confessions on Life, Death, and God

Being the OCD person I am, I was examining every copy to find the one with the least amount of dents or bent pages, and as I was flipping through one I noticed something hanging out of the edge of the book, and I swear all of a sudden I realized what it was and I felt like I had seen a ghost!

Someone had tucked away their own secret written on a napkin in a copy of one of the books...

It was so weird standing there reading their cry for help and knowing I could do nothing. I mean who knows, it could have been some stupid kids pulling a prank by putting it in the book, but ya never know. I just stood there for a minute feeling really weird and sad. Needless to say I left the note in the book and chose another copy!

If you haven't heard about the Post Secret project you should check it out, it is really neat. I like reading all of the secrets - good, bad, and weird.

Anyways, I can't wait to hear Frank speak on Saturday and have him sign my book! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

This and That

-I worked Saturday and Sunday this weekend, which was absolute chaos! It was SO busy!!

-Sunday after work I headed home to my parents house to see my Mom for the little bit that was left of Mother's Day. We had a yummy dinner and got some Frozen Yogurt after which is always nice.

-I figured out how to tell if it has been TOO long since you have last visited home: I think a good sign is when the alarm clock on your nightstand hasn't been set to the time change which happened WEEKS if not MONTHS ago...
-In other news Josh is sick. So last night on my way home from work I stopped at the store and bought all of this:
Apple Juice
Pedialyte (I don't care if it is for babies I am making him drink it)
Gatorade
Sierra Mist
Because I will NOT let THIS happen to either of us again:

Ohh I don't know... maybe seeing this on your way to work might be a clue:

I've seen people with dogs in the bed of their trucks, but this was the first time I've ever seen sheep in the bed of a truck rather than a trailer or something.

Needless to say this was definitely a funny way to start my day BAAAAHHahaha!!

Last night when I was cleaning up dinner I looked out the window in our kitchen and saw a person in the park behind our house - no big deal. But when I was done doing the dishes and the person was still there I decided to watch and see what they were doing... and quite frankly I have no idea how to explain it... so you can watch it for yourself...

hahahaha so hilarious! I was laughing so hard! I took two other videos that I couldn't use because the camera was shaking and I was laughing so much hahaha.

In other news, my second day off was great! I went on campus and had lunch with my good friend Christa, then I ran to the store to get some things for dinner.

After that I spent an hour laying out in the sun in our backyard which felt AMAZING!!
Then I went to the gym and had a lovely dinner with Josh :)

Day Off :)

Yesterday I had the day off, the first of two in a row! Holy Jeebus how did I get so lucky? haha

Josh and I decided to have a picnic in the park near our house before we ran some errands because it was SO beautiful out! We had a lunch of champions : turkey sandwiches, bbq chips, and cherry kool-aid! Delish!!
While we were eating I saw this guy unloading the trunk of his car, but it looked like he was taking it out of the hood of the car closer to us, so I was like "hey look, he is unloading from the front of his car!" and Josh totally fell for it hahaha
After our picnic we ran a few errands then I decided I wanted to lay out in the sun, the only problem: our backyard has turned into a war-zone because our lawn mower is broken!

So we did what any college students do - we went and borrowed the neighbors fully functioning lawn mower haha

What a difference it made! Sheesh!
We had to empty the bag before returning it because it was pretty maxed out
Then Josh did some edging with the weed whacker that our landlord gave us to "mow the lawn with" - she is an idiot obviously
But of course, the ONE rope thing that she provided for the weed whacker broke while Josh was using it, so he finished up the rest of the yard with scissors - poor Josh!
After the yard was all nice, I opted to go to the gym instead of lay out, and Josh went to class. We had a yummy dinner of Mandarin Chicken and Corn on the Cob followed by some vanilla ice cream and Oreos :)
I'd say the first of my two days off was a great success! :)

...I finally did it. I made the seasonal switch from my glorious Snow Blossom Pottery Barn Kids Flannel sheets to my white sheets. I'm not going to lie, I feel like a little part of me might have died :(

I mean, really, how could you not love sleeping on something this cute and cuddly every night??!!

But sadly, it has just gotten to be TOO hot to have flannel, especially with my personal space heater, Josh thrown in the mix.

So we are back regular sheets...

... and I am happy to report that after our first night I am adjusting quickly. I am also remembering why it is important to buy nice sheets - because it makes a huge difference :)

My Weekend ReCap...

This last weekend was pretty low key. I had Friday off, so Josh and I ran a bunch of errands and restocked our fridge which was dangerously close to being empty. We also got our Mother's Day gifts put together and I even made it to the gym! We finished the night off with a game of Apples to Apples with Stephanie and Anthony and all was well :)

Saturday and Sunday I of course had to work - spending my day with sun lovers who were enjoying the day at our outdoor mall while I was inside handing out coupons - just the way I like the enjoy beautiful sunshiny days... NOT!

But alas, on Sunday I worked a split shift because we were having an all store meeting last night, so in my few hours between work I was able to go to the gym and paint my toenails.

Which I know you are dying to see, so I have included pictures.

In light of recent zoo sightings at work, I have decided to dedicate today's iPhone Foto Friday to "bring your pets shopping day" - which I still do not fully understand.

The first bring your pet portion of today's post goes to the woman with the parrot on her shoulder.
I was in the back on my lunch when I heard a very LOUD squawking noise coming from the sales floor, and it KEPT happening, so finally I went out and saw that yes indeed, a customer had brought her stupid bird with her shopping. WHY on EARTH would you feel the need to bring a bird shopping with you? I just do not understand.

Next up: Mello Bello, the sweetest dog ever.
We have a lot of repeat customers, and Bello's Mom Heather always comes in to our store. He is so calm and always just sleeps while she shops, but yesterday Bello made a home for himself on our "husband chair" it was so cute!

Do you bring your pets shopping? I personally don't think that the mall is the place for animals, I say leave them at home where they can poop and pee where they should - not on my sales floor. If you are that concerned about spending time with your pet then you should take it to the park! haha but maybe that is just me?

My Wonderful Weekend Off! :)

Thanks to the scheduling gods, I lucked out and my weekend off turned out to be one of the most beautiful weekends this month! No rain and all sunshine! :)

On Friday night I went to the gym and then Josh and I hung out and relaxed because Saturday morning he had to get up bright and early to take the WEPT - an English test that you must pass in order to graduate. So I headed to the town of Sonoma to meet up with my good friend Lindsey for lunch!

We had lunch at a really cute outdoor cafe and then walked around the plaza and looked in all of the neat little shops! It was so great to see her again :)

Then I came home and Josh and I couldn't decide what to do, but it was still SO nice out, so I opted to wash the Jetta! I don't even care that it is supposed to rain this week, the Jetta needed a cleaning bad!

Saturday night Josh's sister and some of their hockey friends came over to watch the Sharks hockey game. We made homemade popcorn and watched the Sharks win! I also decided to make some cupcakes and loaded up my Cuisipro, but little did I know the bottom wasn't on all the way so when I squeezed the pump the bottom fell off and all of the batter came out! haha

On Sunday morning my parents came up to visit! So we headed to Healdsburg!

We had lunch at the Healdsburg Bar and Grill and then walked around the downtown square.

Along the way my parents did some wine tasting, and we even came across a toad! haha

Then we headed over to Paradise Ridge, the winery where our good friends Stephanie and Anthony work! It had an absolutely amazing view!

The indoor wedding facility, so pretty! And I love those chandeliers!

Then Josh and I were off to a work party to celebrate Casy's last day! We even had a mermaid pinata! haha

Then we came home and got ready for bed! It was one of those great weekends where I got a lot done, and did a lot of fun things, but I never felt rushed or worn out, it was so fun and relaxing!

As you all know I work in retail, therefore I get to come in contact with some interesting people. Recently a girl came in (on a weekday - before noon) dressed for the clubs.

Now just a bit of background: the town where our store is = a cow town. There is a slaughter house down the road, most of the people are farmers, and you have to drive a bit of a ways to get to any sort of legit "clubs". So needless to say when this little number came in, we were all having a field day...

Her dress was SO SHORT that she was leaning back a bit to sag in down. And the combo with the heels and all of her makeup and jewelry made the whole thing even more classic.

I don't mind if you dress up for the clubs, by all means - GO FOR IT! But on a Wednesday at 11:30am? really? I have a feeling you could have gone with a more appropriate outfit for a family shopping environment, but then again, I could be wrong.

The Romper: Love it or Hate it?

After a recent trip to Target which is always dangerous, I have been left with a question: To Romper or Not to Romper? For a very reasonable $19 any of the following rompers could be mine from the heaven on Earth known as Target, but I have a few concerns...

When I sit will it give me a big wedgie?
What type of bra can I wear with one of these? Because I hate strapless.
Will I look even MORE like a 12 year old?
And lastly, how flattering can these really be on? I mean it is just a sack with a cinched waist...

Fish creep me out...

Fish Scare Me! They are creepy, they are weird. When my family goes boating I'm always afraid they are going to bite my toes.

So when I came across this article I couldn't believe that their are women out there who are willing to let fish suck on their feet!!! EWWWY!

A salon in Arizon was offering these fish manicures to it's clients when the State of Arizona shut it down for uncleanliness because you can't sterilize the fish. But basically you put your feet in a tank of these tiny fishies who nibble off all of the dead skin - ummm sick!!

I apologize for all of the articles as of lately, but some of these things are just too crazy not to share!!

Would you ever let a fish eat away at your feet?? Heck no, NOT ME!

A few years ago Josh's sister got me a cute little Cinderella picture frame for my birthday! Unfortunately the other day when I was getting ready in a hurry I knocked it off of my dresser and she broke! :(

At the mall that I work at there is a store called Tuesday Morning. It is an interesting store, I guess I would classify it like a Ross of specifically home-good type things. Random decor and such. I like to go browse on my lunch and see what things they have. Sometimes they have sweet finds, other times I am left wondering WTF?

My most recent WTF moment at Tuesday Morning was when I went in and spotted these:

ok FIRST of all, these are CREEPY! Second, I doubt that anyone with a western theme would choose these creepy statues! Let alone pay around $30 each!

I figured these things would never sell, but of course, when I went in a few days later they were gone! I feel sorry for whatever home gets decorated with these things! haha

Easter Weekend Camping Trip at the Coast!

Sunday night after I got off of work Josh and I headed to the Coast to meet my family for a few days of camping! :)

The campground! Our motor home is in the very back.

On Monday morning when we got up my Dad and his friends were de-shelling and prepping the abalone that they dove for the previous day.

After they were done, the water was too rough for them to go diving, so we went in to Mendocino for the day! We had a yummy lunch at a Brewing company!

My dad got a 10 beer sampler, he was pretty excited

As a side note: my parents brought our 3 labs camping, and when we went back to the motor home after the camp fire the dogs were all sleeping and Bo was snoring SO LOUD! haha I had to video it!

The next morning we woke up to Mom making a delicious breakfast feast!

Then my Dad, his friends, and my brother suited up to go abalone diving!

It was SO nice to have two days off in a row, even NICER to spend it with my family, and even more GREAT was that I got to get some camping in too! :) Such a perfect few days off!

Transporting a cake of any kind in your car is always an adventure, but as I have recently found, transporting a Barbie cake in your car is by far the hardest thing ever. Last week I made one of the girls at work a Barbie Cake for her birthday, and after I made it I found myself stuck with the task of getting it to work!!

I had to tuck wash cloths under the sides of the plate so it wouldn't slide around, and she was obviously a top heavy cake so I couldn't put her on the seat because it wasn't flat like the floor. I knew I had to snap a picture at the beginning of our trip - just in case she didn't survive haha.

Talk about driving the speed limit, braking WAY in advance for lights, and taking turns like a granny! haha but alas she got to work safe and sound! :)

In other news, my two days off were VERY nice! I slept in late both days which I really needed! And I am sad to report that I was not able to conquer all of the laundry yesterday, we still have some that needs to be done! I swear it never ends!! haha

Days Off!

Sorry for the lack of posting! This week has been absolutely crazy. On Wednesday one of the higher ups from Corporate was coming to visit our store = MEGA cleaning time. On Tuesday ... or should I say Wednesday.... we stayed until 1 AM cleaning and prepping for his visit!!!! Hello overtime! I spent a whole hour cleaning the floor in our store, and let me tell you, Wednesday I woke up feeling like I couldn't move I was so sore! Thankfully I didn't have to work when he was visiting, because after that cleaning session I wouldn't have been able to fake my smile and pretend I wasn't sore.

Yesterday, because we were so tired from being up until almost 2:30 AM, because of course I had to do more work once I got home (printing pictures for our staff board) we decided to sleep in on Wednesday and take it easy. So we ran a few errands, then came back and made BBQ hot dogs for lunch and then decided to clean the garage!

It didn't take long to clean at all, but it was just one of those projects that has been needing to be done, but ranks pretty low on my list of things to-do. So now we don't have piles of crap everywhere and Josh can access his bike and hockey gear a lot easier now :)

Today I have the day off as well, so while Josh is on campus I am going to run some errands, finish laundry, go to the gym, make some dinner, and then we are headed to his hockey game tonight. So it will be a busy yet productive day off, and I will get to enjoy the break in the rain!

Skating Weekend!

This weekend I had to work Fri, Sat, and Sun. But on Sunday since we close early, we all got together after work for our monthly outside of work get together!

This Month we decided to go Skating! And to make it even more fun, we decided to dress up!

Blah, I'm sick

I guess it was only a matter of time until it hit me, and here it is: My first cold of the year. YUCK!

Josh has been feeling crappy for a few days now and it inevitably transferred over to me. On Saturday I had the day off and of course it was overcast and dreary. Because I can't just sit and do nothing, especially when i have a day off, we decided to go for a bike ride. It was fun, but probably not the best choice considering we were both feeling iffy. When we got home we took a 2 hour nap, and the sickness proceeded to take over lol.

Sunday I woke up feeling like death, went to work and it only got worse. Today I called out sick for the first time EVER! I hate calling out, and I feel really guilty, but at the same time, I know I wouldn't have made it at work.

And of course, the day I am home sick it is BEAUTIFUL outside. The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and I can hardly get the energy to go downstairs and get a glass of water! Annoying.

Thanks Mother Nature, I love you too.

So my plans for today are to:
1. rest
2. watch as much Teen Mom as I can
3. take a long nap

Today's iPhone Foto is one that I strategically snapped while at Josh's hockey tournament. At this particular rink it is verrry cold, so most of the spectators bring blankets and hot chocolate to stay warm while they watch the games, but this lady took the act of bringing a blanket to a WHOLE new level.

Yes my friends, she hand made a Blanket Skirt! Which was rather flowy might I add.

Why bother having to lug a blanket around or fold it up when you need to leave your seat? With the blanket skirt you can look like a complete idiot at your son's college hockey tournament!! hahaha

It was the funniest thing ever!

I promised Josh I would never wear one of these to any of his games. Haha! Happy Friday! :)

Lesson Learned

Yesterday I had to run a few errands, the last one being the grocery store, around lunch time, when I hadn't eaten since breakfast.

My list (roughly $15-20worth of things):
Bread
Milk
Salad
Cheese

What did I leave with??

$70.00 worth of stuff, mainly junk food!
Unnecessary Items include but are not limited to:
-mini powdered donuts
-string cheese
-2 bags of potato chips
-nilla wafers
-teddy grahams

I don't even know what got into me! I didn't audit my cart before the checkout, I just cruised right on up with a cart full of yummy but expensive crap! Never again will I go to the store on an empty stomach around lunch time, especially when I am trying to SAVE money. UGH! Stupid me.

Now I will be poor and fat! haha

Yesterday I got off of work a half hour early, and boy did it make a difference! :)

I came home, went to the gym, showered up, started dinner and then because it was still SO NICE out I headed to campus to surprise Josh! :)

Then we walked home together and enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather! Finished up making Tacos for dinner and then decided to use the free Frozen Yogurt Card I had at Golden Spoon!

Yum! Vanilla!

Afterwards we headed to Target to get some TP and walk around. We found a funny little kid outfit! haha

The rest of the night we spent watching some TV in our jammies and just relaxed. It was so nice to have the extra hour of sunshine and to get off of work early! I felt like we had so much more time to spend together and it was great!

Today I have the day off and a huge list of things to do, but anything is better than being inside on a day like today!

Tootles Ginger Bread House!

Back around Christmas time Josh and I decorated a ginger bread house. It was ugly, but as per our tradition, we make them and then we ruin them after the holidays are over. So we have been meaning to destroy it for quite some time now, but with work and everything else it just hasn't happened.

But alas, we finally found time to demolish the ugly little cookie house the other day (which has been sitting in our kitchen waiting to be killed for FAR TOO LONG).

... because I hit the JACKPOT!!!!

The wonderful Jules over at Chic and Pink recently had a General Mills giveaway and I won the grand prize!!! So needless to say, when I came home from running errands last week to find a huge box on my porch I was so excited and tore right into it!!

What was inside you might ask? EVERYTHING! haha :)

The grand prize included an Atari Flashback game system, 5 boxes of my favorite cereals with retro boxes (LOVE me some Lucky Charms!!), a fun Cheerios shirt, AND a Target gift card! Can you say LUCKY!??

Can't wait to go to Target! :)

Alright people, the customers who come into my store have reached a whole new level...

...are we REALLY putting a 3 year old in heels???

Granted they aren't stilettos but jeeze lousie!! This little girl was having trouble walking! I couldn't believe it!

I can understand a heel that size maybe when your daughter is 10 or 12 to wear with her Christmas Dress or something, but for every day out and about? A Sweater and skinny jeans, paired with a pair of heeled boots??!!

I know I am a bit of a square, but I don't think that I"m out of hand thinking this is a bit ridiculous...

Dad's Birthday Weekend Adventures!

This last weekend I had FRI, SAT, ANNNND SUN off! Yay! So I got to go home and spend some time with my family and friends from home!! :)

The first night I was back I went to a yummy dinner at P.F. Changs with some lovely friends and then we hung out and chit chatted. I love how we pick right back up where we left off, like we saw each other yesterday even if it has been a while!

Saturday morning when we got up we sat around the kitchen table trying to decide what to do, and Dad decided he wanted to go to the San Jose Flea Market. It was his birthday weekend so we couldn't really argue, although I may or may not have pushed for other activities.

There was a sign at the flea market to get massages... or cupping?? GROSS.

We ate a lot of food while we were there! First up: Mexican Food for lunch!

We also had Dip n' Dots! (not pictured, but also consumed: a corn dog, fortune cookies, and I'm sure there is more that I can't remember.)

Then we came home and my mom made an AMAZING home cooked meal, then we feasted on this delish ice cream cake/pie that she made for my Dad's Birthday!

Then after dinner we gave my dad his gifts and headed to see Alice in Wonderland in 3-d! It was interesting, but I wouldn't bring kids to it.

Then on Sunday we got up BRIGHT and EARLY because we were going Indoor Skydiving!! My Dad had a box of donuts waiting on the kitchen table when we got up, so that made the Bright and Early part a bit easier :)

It ended up not being scary at all, but more of a rush, and it was also nice knowing you weren't going to splat onto the ground haha. Basically you just fall into this crazy wind tunnel that is blowing winds of 100+MPH and the instructor is spinning you and stuff, and he took us up to the top on our second flight! So fun!

Here is a video that Josh put together from the DVD they gave us with our Family Package. Don't mind Josh looking like he is going to cry/flaring his nostrils. You can just fast forward to me! haha

After the flying was done I had SO many knots in my hair!!

After the farm we headed out to get some pizza for lunch and then Josh and I made the trip back home. It was such a great weekend and I had so much fun with my family and friends :)

Today is my Dad's 50th Birthday!!

Although I'm not able to go home today, Josh and I went home over the weekend and we all had a lot of fun!! :) Here are some random pictures from the last year or so, and I will recap this weekend tomorrow!

I don't even know how to introduce this one... but take a good hard look at the girl in the center of the picture (she has her back to us)... can you guess what she is wearing?

In case you can't quite figure it out let me help you out here... it is a BEANIE with a SCARF attached to it that hangs down and at the end there are built in GLOVES. What is even worse is that on the front side there was a bunny face sewn on to it so that the scarf/glove portion looked like bunny ears!!!

It greatly saddens me that in 2010 people are still leaving their homes wearing things of this nature... buuuutttt, I appreciate them for giving me something to laugh at while I am at work! hahaha

I love me some potatoes, and I really love me some of Pioneer Woman's Crash Hot Potatoes!

She has so many great recipes and fun stories, if you haven't checked out her blog/site I seriously recommend it!! I mean how could you pass up potatoes that look as freaking delish as those?!!

Have any of you tried out her recipes before? Any favorites I should check out?

Weekend!

This weekend I had to work, which was fine. We had a good time at the store and saw some random customers, have no fear - I will share on Friday haha.

On Saturday Josh had a hockey game and I was tired from work so we decided to have a date night and went out to our favorite Chinese restaurant! It was delicious, and nice to get out of the house and have some time together :)

On Sunday Josh and I went to dinner and the movies with a few girls from work. We kept it simple and classy and went to In n Out burger - DELISH!

And saw Valentine's Day. It was a cute movie, but kinda long.

At my work we get a variety of customers, but one thing remains constant - many of them shop with their dogs (which I personally think is stupid - your dog does not need to go to the mall with you, but whatever).

Anyways, recently a customer came in with this pooch and when Janell and I realized it had PAINTED TOE NAILS we knew we had to get a picture. So she pretended to be playing with the dog while I crouched down behind the counter and got a picture of it and its nails haha.

The only problem was the little dog kept moving, so Janell had to somewhat hold it in place, but in the end we got the picture so it was all worth it!

I have never seen something like this, and I hope I never see it again! haha

Gym Freak of The Week

Today I have had to create a new sector in the Gym Freak realm, which is the gym dress code freak. Reason being is that the girl under review today didn't do anything overly freakish, she just should have looked in a mirror before she left the house...

Exhibit A:

Here is my advice, and you can take it or leave it, but if you are going to wear super tight stretchy pants and a super tight stretchy long shirt with a thong that is obviously squeezing into your booty, please look in the mirror before you leave the house.

Because quite honestly I don't want to look at the outline of your thong digging into your body as I briefly walk by, so I'm going to guess that the lady on the treadmill behind you ins't too excited about looking at it for her 45 min workout.

So in browsing the interwebz for places to live (now that we will soon be homeless) I have come across some real winners, but my favorite by far has to be this little gem:

I mean, who WOULDN'T want to live in a TWO STORY mobile home??? hahahaha Can you even imagine what the neighbors must think of the people who live in this bad boy - talk about trying to keep up with the Joneses! haha

disclaimer: we will not be moving into a mobile home park
(or so I hope - unless of course it is a two story, then maybe I will consider it, haha jk!!)

this weekend seemed to drag on forever.

Josh left Friday for a hockey tournament in LA so I was home alone (in relative terms, Stephanie was home) without him. I hate when he is gone, I can't sleep and I am always so cold because he keeps the bed so warm haha.

I stayed up way too late Friday AND Saturday watching the Olympics, I love the Olympics.

I worked Saturday and a split shift on Sunday because we had our inventory for work, we counted 6,883 units in our store. This coming Sunday our staff is going to see Valentine's Day as a group so that should be fun.

Other than that, we are still trying to figure out what to do with our living situation and see if/when we get our notice served to us. So annoying!

I'm feeling pretty tired and so ready for my 3 day weekend in a few weeks for my Dad's 50th birthday... just counting down the days!

And just a little something for all of you ladies out there, considering I forgot to do an iPhone Foto Friday (UGH! Stupid landlord!)...

Today we put in a work request for the lock on our door to be repaired at work and this is what we were sent! Hallelujah!! hahaha!
Considering we are a store full of female employees who deal with a female client base - this was quite a little treat! hahaha I couldn't help but take a picture, especially with all of the girls egging me on! haha

Hi Katie,

Thank you so much for letting me know about Douchebag coming to the house. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and you are right! You are dealing with me and this is between Douchebag and I. The truth of the matter is that we are filing for a divorce and we have been separated since last October. He seems to have been in denial and now thinks he can step in to all I have been managing.

What I would like to do is meet with you and the room mates or just you however you would like and let you know what could happen. I dont know if I will keep the unit or if I will have to include it into a bankruptcy. But nevertheless, if I do a BK, you will not be legally obligated to pay the rent. I am meeting with an attorney today, so please just give me a call and we can meet this weekend.

I will talk to Douchebag. Sorry! By the way, he can not evict you.

After talking to her on the phone it looks as though the townhouse we live in is going to be foreclosed on, and we will be getting a move out notice sometime soon. EXCELLENT!

So here is our question: why did it take her d-bag ex coming over for her to give us the heads up?? Stupid Stupid Stupid!

I do not want to pack up and move again, just thinking about it makes me tired and sore already!

I need to buy a house...
